BREEDING SERVICES All breeding at Rock-n-Easy Ranch of full size Mares or Jennies is done via Artificial Insemination (AI). Miniature Mares and mini Jennies are live-covered by our mini stallion or mini jacks on the premises under supervision and includes pasture breeding or hand breeding. Rock-n-Easy Ranch is a fully equipped breeding station. The collection area is adjacent to the breeding stocks and the breeding lab. Everyone on the breeding staff, including the ranch owner, has been through and completed the AI course at University of California at Davis. Veterinary support services are provided by Dr Chris Comeau out of the Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital in Bakersfield ,Ca. Dr Comeau also resides in the same town in which the ranch is located and he provides us with better than normal response times. Mares/Jennies to be bred are housed either in the barn or in corrals adjacent to the barn so that they can be easily observed for signs of heat, teasing and readily available for ultrasounds and AI. We routinely breed twice during each ovulatory cycle and ultrasound at 18 days to confirm for pregnancy. Our breeding staff and vet are well versed in taking an individual approach to each prospective mom and take the time to devise a plan that will garner the most successful breeding process using the most current technologies available. Our mammoth jacks normally produce 50 to 75ml per collection and billion sperm per ml. Both jacks have been tested and are negative for EVA. Both jacks are collected by using the Colorado Artificial Vagina (AV). On-site AI is done immediately following collection and examination of sample. Semen to be cooled and shipped is processed at that time as well. We highly recommend that “Transported Cooled Semen” clients make arrangements with us and their vet well in advance to ensure availability of semen on the date needed. Both the ranch owner, Rich Bruckman, and the ranch trainer/handler are available to talk with you personally regarding any questions you may have before, during or after breeding and we will keep all clients informed of progress on our end throughout the breeding process. While we do offer a foaling service it is on a space available basis only. Please call for details on a case by case basis. | |
